Cass Executive Named to St. Louis Fed's Transportation Council

ST. LOUIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mar. 12, 2009-- John Pickering, chief operating officer of Cass Information Systems, Inc.'sTransportation Information Services Division, has joined the Transportation Industry Council of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis.

In this role, Pickering will provide input to the St. Louis Fed on economic conditions based on his exposure to industry trends and data, such as that published through the Cass Freight Index®.

Pickering has been with Cass for more than thirty years. He has had primary responsibility for the Transportation Information Services division since 1990 to include management of its four processing sites in St. Louis, Columbus, OH, Boston and Wellington, KS. Prior to joining Cass in 1977, he held management positions with Emerson Electric Company’s Transportation and Corporate Distribution divisions. In his current role, he works with logistics industry executives throughout the Fortune 1000.

The St. Louis Fed created four District Industry Councils in 2006. Each council represents a specific industry that is critical to the Federal Reserve's Eighth District and is designed to build a consistent and dependable line of communication regarding economic conditions within those industry sectors throughout the district.
